Cayman's ChiefSecretary visiting Turks and Caicos

Chief Secretary, the Hon.James Ryan, MBE, JP, is attending the fifth annual meeting ofDeputy Governors and Chief Secretaries of the UK Caribbean OverseasTerritories and Bermuda. The meetings were expected be held inTurks and Caicos Islands on Monday and Tuesday, 24-25 June 2002.
Participants will discussmatters of common interest in their work in the territories, includingall aspects of development and management of the public service,constitutional development, internal security, citizenship andnationality, disaster management and the political/administrativeinterface. As usual, a member of the Overseas Territories Departmentof the Foreign and Commonwealth Office will update participantson developments in the UK and take back their views.
This year, the meeting willbe hosted by Chief Secretary of the Turks and Caicos Islands,the Hon. Cynthia Astwood, OBE. Also expected to participate areDeputy Governor of Anguilla Roger Cousins, Deputy Governor ofBermuda Tim Gurney, Deputy Governor of the British Virgin IslandsElton Georges, OBE, and Head of the Governor's Office of MontserratDavid Graham.
The first of these meetingswas held on Tortola in May 1997. Since then meetings have beenheld annually (except in 1999) in Bermuda, Anguilla and last year,in the Cayman Islands. Mr. Ryan returns to Cayman on Saturday,29 June.
