Pedro Castle Upscales Facilitiesfor Special Events

On site equipment acquired for Pedro Castlehas generated increased private rentals for the site and additionalimprovements are planned for this year.

Fibreglass tables and chairs to accommodateup to 400 persons have been purchased by the Tourism AttractionsBoard (TAB) for the site and lighting from 37 halide lamps havebeen added to illuminate the entire lawn area for night time functions.

Site Manager, Carson Ebanks said professionalquality tents have also been acquired so that renters will findvirtually all their needs met internally. The café in thequadrangle has been reorganized so that meals can be catered onthe site if required for evening functions. Beginning in February,a series of Sunday brunches has been started which make use ofthe added facilities.

TAB spokesman David Martins said that withthe changes introduced last year, rental opportunities for PedroCastle have increased and that given the impressive seashore view,further increases are expected in the coming year.

According to Carson Ebanks, plans are underwayto refurbish the Steadman Bodden house for use as a honeymoonsuite or for overnight rental and the TAB will also be offeringthe quadrangle area for night time rental to small groups. Thisyear as well, plans call for the addition of a wooden servicefacility in the lawn area for more efficient food and drink servicefor rentals.

Long terms plans also include the provisionof an up-scale dining facility on the foreshore of the 7.6 acresite.

Present rental facilities include portablestage and dance floor, portable bar, various tent sizes and tablesin three sizes. Adjustable illumination is available for the lawnarea and the Great House. Theatre Manager, Gary Ebanks said thesite's audio-visual show rated "the best in the Caribbean"by travel writers, is also available to renters in the eveningsfor a nominal charge.
