Danger of Smoking
Dear Sir,
We, the members of the Shark's Patrol ofthe George Town Scout Troop, are writing to you as concerned membersof this community to point out how dangerous smoking is to ourlittle Island and the effects of it.
Cigarettes affect our health in variousways, in both young and old people. We would like to encourageeveryone to 'Say No to Smoking'. Smoking affects our lungs andis one of the causes of cancer. Second-hand smoking is worse thanregular smoking because we are inhaling the fumes from a car exhaustsystem.
No one under the age of eighteen is allowedto purchase cigarettes, but no one young or old should purchaseor smoke cigarettes as this could shorten your life span and putpollution into the ozone layer.
Persons smoking should seek professionalassistance to kick the addiction thus improving the quality ofhealth for themselves and their fellow countrymen.
We, as Scouts, are hereby seeking supportfrom the entire community to speak out to ban the promotion ofcigarette smoking on our local television stations, radio stationsand newspaper and the importation of this substance into our country.
