Accreditation Consultant
visits ICCI
Dr. Nancy Houston, a US-based independenteducational consultant, and a member of the Houston EducationalServices, visited the International College of the Cayman Islands(ICCI) last weekend (9-11 March) to assist the institution indeveloping some areas that are necessary for accreditation.
During her visit, Dr. Houston worked closelywith ICCI's President, Dr. Elsa Cummings, to gather informationin such areas as administrative records; student and educationalservices; the quality of the faculty and the standard of the librarymaterials.
Every year, independent schools and collegesare required to submit an Annual Institution Report (AIR) to theAccrediting Council for Independent Schools and Colleges (ACICS)for review.
The schools must meet specific criteriain order to qualify as an accredited institution. Every threeto six years, an accreditation team from the ACICS visits theCayman Islands to inspect institutions such as ICCI.
The team consists of specialists in theareas of education, finance and student services.
The visit is then followed-up by a reportfrom the institution they visited.
It was Dr. Houston's second visit to ICCI.She was there several years ago to assist with the implementationof the institution's Master's Degree programme.
A former member and Chairman of the Boardof ACIS, Dr. Houston has a strong background in both educationand business and has conducted over 100 evaluations for numerouseducational institutions.
She has worked closely with the FloridaMetropolitan University, the Academy of Art of San Francisco andthe University of South Eastern Europe in Monaco.
