USCC Chairman OffersHelp On OECD and FATF Issues

Chairman of the United States Chamber of Commerce (USCC), Mr.Kelly Stanley, said he believes his Chamber could be a great facilitatorin bringing to the forefront, issues of the Organization for EconomicCo-operation and Development (OECD) and the Financial Action Taskforce(FATF) presently affecting the Cayman Islands.
Mr. Kelly was the keynote speaker at a luncheonhosted by the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce (CICC) last Thursday(15 March). The luncheon was attended by the Governor, Mr. PeterSmith; President of the CICC, Mr. David Foster and key membersof the Cayman Islands business community.
The OECD and the FATF were the hot topicsof discussions at the luncheon, as attendees discussed the grapplingissues of the tax incentives that were bearing down on the CaymanIslands' financial sector.
Mr. Stanley said while he is not "wellversed" with the contentious issues of the OECD or the FATF,"it does not hurt to have the USCC as a friend".
"Our organization would be a greatfacilitator in bringing the issues to the forefront so that theUSCC can influence the powers that be," Mr. Stanley said.
"The USCC has a nationally-recognisedteam of top lobbyists and political experts and has a strong internationaldivision that fights for American commercial interests aroundthe world and introduces medium and small US firms to global opportunities,"Mr. Stanley told the gathering.
The USCC is said to be the world's largestbusiness federation, advocating the interest of American businessesof all sizes and types in Washington and around the globe.
Working closely with approximately threemillion companies, 3,000 state and local chambers, 850 businessassociations, and 90 American Chambers of Commerce overseas, theUSCC deals with issues ranging from international trade to taxes.
