YCLA Gets FinancialBoost

PriceWaterhouseCoopers last Wednesday (21March) announced their support as a major sponsor of the 2001Young Caymanian Leadership Awards (YCLA).

Mr. Nick Freeland, partner at PriceWaterHouseCoopers,recently presented a $15,000 cheque to Mrs. Jackie Hansen, Directorof the Young Caymanian Leaders Foundation.

"I am delighted to confirm our continuedsupport for the Young Caymanian Leadership Awards Programme,"Mr. Freeland said. "Although PriceWaterHouseCoopers hasbeen involved, as a sponsor of the YCLA, since the inception,this is the first year that we have participated at the majorcorporate sponsor level."

Mrs. Hansen, expressing gratitude on behalfof the YCLA Honorary Board, said, "the goal of the YCLA isto identify and encourage leadership qualities in young Caymanians. This objective can only be achieved with the generous supportof companies such as PriceWaterhouseCoopers."

Other major sponsors for this year's awardsinclude Bodden Beverages/Pepsi, Cayman National Dart Foundationand WestStar TV Ltd.

The YCLA's Honorary Board has stated itreceived numerous nominations of very worthy individuals for thisyear's award. The nominations subcommittee has spent the pastseveral months in a detailed screening process to determine thefive finalists who will be eligible for the prestigious award. Names of the finalists will be announced to the public in thecoming weeks.

This year's award recipient will be honouredat the April 28th Awards ceremony, a black tie gala evening tobe held at the Hyatt Pavilion. Like last year's event, the YCLA2001 Awards ceremony will be televised live on Cayman27.

Joe Theismann, popular football legend,will be the keynote speaker. Mr. Theismann is a two-time ProBowl football player and the most productive quarterback in thehistory of the Washington Redskins. His concern for youth combinedwith his personal leadership and teamwork experiences make hima highly sought-after lecturer in the United States.
