Youths On A MissionFor God
Theyouths took time off from doing community services to pose forthe cameras.
On an apparent mission for God, the pre-teengroup at the Boatswain Presbyterian Church dedicated a few hours, two Fridays ago, to cleaning their community, under the supervisionfrom older folks. Armed with gloves and other gardening tools, they chopped and cleared weeds and other plants that had over-grownthe basketball court.
With the assistance of Church Elders andDeacons, they also transformed a part of the basketball courtinto a volleyball court, and were back the following day (Saturday)to do the painting. Still not satisfied, they went to rake leavesfrom a resident's yard.
Said the kids, "the court belongs tothe church which makes it a service for God. Also, it (the court)is used by the youths of the district so we are doing a communityservice."
The kids were highly praised for a job welldone.
The group is planning a trip to Little Caymanduring the summer holidays and needs funds to cover their expenses. They are asking anyone who has 'odd jobs' for 11- 13-year-olds(who will be supervised) to call 949-4936 or write to P.O. Box351 West Bay.
