C&W and Unnecessary Wastes

Perhaps Cable & Wireless could avoid some of the announcedlay-offs if they had spent their advertising budget more wisely.

In a recent issue of your paper, there wasa large multi-coloured advertisement, offering 50 per cent discounton cell phone packages.

The fine print at the bottom of the ad clearlystates that the offer was valid from 9 - 17 March, 2001. However, the offer ended a week before the ad was published.

Another way in which the telecommunicationscompany could, and should economize, is to co-ordinate the raisingof their manholes with the Government's paving projects. Currentlythey are waiting until the manholes are already covered with hotmix, then digs up the brand new hot-rolled asphalt to installthe elevating frame and re-paving with what appears to be coldmix.

These are two examples of utterly unnecessarywaste.
