Bodden Town King Passes Away
His nicknames were King and Rasta because of his dreadlocks. Those that knew him loved him. When passing through Bodden Town, King could often be seen lying stretched out in the sun or strolling his beat with his canine friends, Mitzi and Diablo. Humane Society volunteers would often stop off and give King a bone or two or drop off a bag of donated food to his owner.
Last year May during one of its District Dog Washes, the Humane Society gave King a haircut and managed to fill a garbage bag with his dreadlocks. It took volunteers all morning to groom him and King loved every minute of it. At mid-day King was escorted back to his owners, washed groomed and feeling good. His owners were not quite sure if it was their dog.
Unfortunately, during the month of January a car hit Bodden Town's beloved King just by his home. Heartbreakingly it took several hours before someone picked him up and took him to a veterinarian. King suffered agonizing pain for more than three hours before being brought to a veterinarian for treatment.
Regardless of the veterinarian's efforts King died of his injuries. For many this well known town character's heart is still in Bodden Town.
The Humane Society urges the public to check under their vehicles and practice pet safety when leaving the yard and driving on the road. If you hit an animal be responsible and call a veterinarian or find someone to help the animal.
Love and loyalty should be reciprocated even if one of the participants is a dog.
