Greg Simcoe
He coached basketball for the past 28 years with the last year and a half of that time being in the Cayman Islands and is loving every minute of it.
"Every time I go out there, I get a new experience," is the way Greg Simcoe explains his work with youngsters in the game.
He arrived here from his homeland, Canada, two years ago and within six months was assisting under 14 and under 16 children hoop it up.
"I had been coaching basketball all my life and I missed it and I came out and met Coach 'Voot' and began assisting," Greg says.
He speaks of a bond that developed among himself, Coach Voot, and Tony Scott, the Cayman Islands Basketball Association president.
This Physical Education teacher at Faulkner Academy is now a fixture with the youngsters.
He says the best experience so far was traveling with the children for a camp in Tampa in June last year.
"It was rewarding just to spend time
with them and to get to know them better and see them improve,"
he says.
