Cayman Graduates are readyto accept Tourism challenges

On the 19 of May on his 19th birthday, David Goddard, son ofIshmael and Karen Goddard obtained his Associate's of Sciencedegree in Culinary Arts - graduating with distinction on the Deanslist, qualifying him to be admitted into the Chaine Des RotisseursOrganisation.

Like many Caymanians, David chose to be schooled overseas in orderto fill - hopefully - one of the many top paying positions offeredto non-Caymanians, because of their own previous training andhands-on experience.

He attended Johnson and Wales University, which is the largestFoodservice Educator in the world, with campuses across the UnitedStates, including Florida - where David attended, because of itsclose proximity to Cayman.

David has already completed a three-month internship at the University'shotel in the Miami Beach area, cooking up international faressuch as Sushi, ice-carvings, baking and pastry.

Taking a break for a few months after graduating, David headsback to University to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in CulinaryArts, then pressing on to attend the prestigious Cordon Bleu.
"I would like to Cayman to work in our Tourism Industry"says David - who heaps praise on the Minister of Tourism, theHon. Tom Jefferson and Mrs. Angela Martins, the Director of Tourismfor granting him his scholarship. He also holds high regard forMiss Vera at the DOT, and Mrs. Pat Gray, and his home economicsteacher at the John Gray High School.

"Cayman desperately needs Caymanian workers to fill the needsin tourism ... and I am going to do my best to encourage my peershere to get involved in the Hospitality Industry."
