With the recent approval in the change ofcategory for the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (DOT) inthe United States, more Caymanians will be able to be appointedto positions to work in the Department's Offices in Miami andother US cities.

DOT has recently been approved as a miscellaneousforeign government office by the US State Department, which nowallows Caymanians to be eligible to work in DOT offices withinthe US with the appropriate 'A' Class visas.

The visas letters for Caymanians, PilarBush, DOT's US Director of Sales and Marketing and Jeff Goddard,a Senior Systems Analyst, have been received and they will beable to live and work in the United States without the need offurther documentation.

DOT's Director of Tourism, Mrs. Angela Martinscommenting on this relevant development, said: "While thisprocess may have taken some time, it means that with this newlyassigned status, the DOT can obtain visas for other Caymanianswithin a very short time."

Last February, it was announced that theformer Executive Vice President for Marketing for Cayman Airways,Pilar Bush was appointed to take over the top overseas post forDOT, based in Miami. Hitherto, no Caymanian has held this position.

It has been felt for sometime that Cayman'sTourism promotion efforts could be enhanced if there were indigenouspersonnel involved in the selling and marketing of the Islandsin DOT's overseas offices.
