'The Truth Cannot be Hidden'

Dear Sir,

Please allow me space in your most valuablepaper to express a few thoughts and comments on our current situationin these Islands; the place we call home.

First let me state, I am a patriotic humanbeing who realize I have no more right to live than my brothersand sisters in God's world. I am grounded in the faith that Godis our sovereign and that all men are created equal and our ultimategoal should be to love God and our neighbours- and to recognizethat all men are our neighbours.

Since we all live in the same world we shouldnot forget from whence we came and try to get along with eachother and be sensitive to the needs of others.

As one who has been around for some timeand has had the privilege to rub shoulders with the good the badand the ugly and knows what it is to depend on others in the timeof need, I therefore appeal to our people, don't be misled bythose who would make us believe that everything those who camebefore us did was wrong and they have come now as the 'Robin Goods'and will fix everything.

I further appeal to our people, don't burnthe bridge that took you across, unless you are certain that youwon't need it again, or the enemy is pursuing you. Be sure thatthe enemy is not you.

I agree we have lost some of what we had,but it was not a one-way street. In my opinion we got much morethan we lost. Some of what we lost we would like to get back andsome we are glad to get rid of.

I am certain our leaders of the past madesome mistakes or miscalculated the end results of the decisionsthey had to make, but I believe with all my heart that it wasfor the best of the country. Any fisherman knows that to get goodfish he has to go where they are and he has to use good bait, and even at that his success is not guaranteed.
There is much talk about cutting out this and cutting off thatfrom others - which sounds very good to the ears of those whoalways want to be given but don't want to give. Wisdom is knownof her; it is in giving that we get. The truth cannot be hidden. It will expose all those who try to hide it.

He who sows bad seeds will reap bad fruit.Blaming someone or something as old as man that started in theGarden of Eden and continued ever since. So, it is no surprisethat our youth is blamed for just about everything that goes wrong.

In our society, teachers are blamed forschools, parents are blamed for their children, Immigration isblamed for letting in the wrong people, Immigration Board is blamedfor passing too many permits, to name a few. Doctors are blamedfor the wrong medication and people dying and so the games goeson and city hall goes virtually unscathed while society takesthe licks.

During our last elections we were promisedno more taxes, but it is public knowledge that that is false. We had to have medical insurance that was compulsory. That fellby the wayside. Now, we are removing the incentives that helpedto make us the 'great' people we are today who no longer needthose who served us so well in the past and by our wisdom won'tneed again.

Unless we know where we came from we won'tknow where we are going. Smooth talk won't solve our problems, but the truth will and it will set us free. Restore authorityand responsibility to their rightful place, truly seek the guidanceof God and we can trust Him for the good end results.

Thank you Mr. Editor and May God continueto be merciful to the Cayman Islands.
