Attorney-at-Law,Mrs. Keva Reid of McKinney Reid & Company
The month of April marked a milestone inthe career of former Prosecutor and Deputy Clerk of Courts/Registrarof the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal as she opened the doorsto her new law firm.
Mrs. Keva Reid is known to many residentsfor her work as a civil servant; firstly as an Articled Clerk,Deputy Clerk of Courts/Registrar of the Cayman Islands Court ofAppeal and later as Crown Counsel with the Legal Department. Duringher ten plus years with the Cayman Islands Government, Mrs. Reidgained experience in many areas of the law including crime, probateand administration, family, land, planning, debt collection, immigration,contract, company law and others. She also spent time trainingin private law chambers where she gained valuable experience inareas such as insurance law and personal injury matters.
When asked if she was concerned that thismay be a challenging time to venture into a new business, shereplied, "There is no question that it is a challenging timeand I had other options, but after considering everything I feltconfident that this was the path to take. There are no guarantees,but hard work, know-how, integrity and good public relations goa long way in helping to make any business successful and I offerall those and more to the public. Having 'no fear', meaning thatI am not afraid to challenge anyone or anybody corporate if Iam convinced that there is a right to be upheld is very importantand I have already had to face that since I have opened."
The new law firm, McKinney Reid & Company,is located in the heart of George Town in Elizabethan Square.Mrs. Reid is a 1992 graduate of the University of Liverpool andthe Cayman Islands Law School, having received top awards forscholastic achievement for two of the years of her study at theLaw School.
She is married and the mother of four children.
