The stands at the Lions Aquatic Center werefilled to overflowing as the enthusiastic spectators witnesseda record-breaking day at the Lions Sprint Meet.
This high intensity event attracted over145 swimmers, with more than 25 from Cayman Brac and, for thefirst time ever, 6 swimmers from Little Cayman. The Hon. Dr. FrankMcField welcomed the tri-island participants, their family andfriends, and the many Lions officials who generously donated theirtime and resources to make the event a resounding success.

The perfect pool conditions caused recordsto tumble in six events. It started with a bang as Heather Roffeyimproved Shauna Powell's Age 15 & Over 50M Butterfly Poolrecord with a new time of 31.86 seconds.
Shauna's record for this event had stooduntouched for almost five years! Not to be outdone, Laura Staffordalso took aim and successfully bested another one of Shauna's15 & Over Pool records in the 50M Backstroke.
As the day heated up, so too did the recordtimes. New Pool and Stingray Swim Club Records were broken byJodie Foster and Taejsha-Rae Solomon in the Age 11/12 100M IndividualMedley (IM), Brett Fraser in the 11-12 100M IM, Laura Staffordin the 15 & Over 100M IM, and Heather Roffey again in the50M Backstroke.
While records were falling, the swimmersfrom the Sister Islands were also turning in personal best performances.Matasha Ebanks from The Brac Barracudas stepped up in the Age6 & Under 25M Butterfly and Kerry Tatum of Little Cayman brokethrough in the Age 7/8 25M Freestyle. Cayman Brac's Anjuli Bradshawused her fast starts to feature in the Age 13/14 50M Butterflyand Backstroke events.
The Lions Club officials concluded the dramaticday by recognizing each of the age group meet champions.

The Stingray Swim Club looks forward towelcoming you to the upcoming Foster Brothers Invitational SwimMeet on June 14-16 at the Lions Aquatic Centre. Foster Bros. Ltd.and their Gatorade, Castle Springs, Ocean Spray, and HawaiianTropic products are proudly sponsoring this three-day meet thatwill feature four visiting swim teams. The abundance of localand international talent suggests another wave of record-breakingperformances.
