Local music support from this visitor
Dear Sir,
Thank you for giving local musicians the
support they need. Your front-page article on March 11th is right
on.
I am a regular visitor to your island and not too impressed with
the traffic jams, the high-rise construction development, fast
food outlets and other American type eyesores.
My family and I often visit the many venues that offer live local
music. The talent available in Cayman is very impressive and we
have a large collection of local CD's. I have always been puzzled
as to why they don't receive more exposure on your Radio Stations.
We have also visited Jamaica and Barbados where the sounds of
their local reggae and calypso bands fill the airwaves. Personally,
I feel that two plays per hour is too little. When I'm on my island
vacation I want local food, I want a local person to serve me
my rum punch and I want to hear local music and simply get the
local flavour.
Keep up the pressure Mr. Martins; this is one visitor who is behind
you all the way.
