All Black coach Mitchell downcast at Lomu injury woe

WELLINGTON (AFP) All Blacks coach John Mitchell was downcast at the ongoing injury woes that have ruled superstar wing Jonah Lomu out of rugby.

Lomu was one the big names omitted from the New Zealand squad named here Monday, although his omission was not surprising as in April he dropped out of Super 12s suffering a flare-up of his chronic kidney problem.

Speaking on state owned Television New Zealand Mitchell was gloomy over the fate of Lomu.

"You feel sorry for him because he had a wonderful gift, his gift was to play rugby.

SHANGHAI (AFP) Houston Rockets center Yao Ming has filed a lawsuit against Coca-Cola for unlawfully using his image and is demanding a public apology and one yuan (12 cents) in compensation.

Yao's management agency said in a statement on his website Monday that "the core of the lawsuit is to protect Yao's legal rights, while the amount of compensation is less important".

The spat stems from just released commemorative Coke bottles in China which feature a photo of Yao and fellow Chinese national team stars Mengke Bateer and Guo Shiqiang wearing their national team shirts.

"I have never permitted Coca-Cola to use my image to promote their products," Yao said in the statement carried by Xinhua news agency.
