Cable & Wireless has pledged its supportto Cayman Hospice Care by becoming a Silver Corporate Member ofthe organisation.

"Cable & Wireless is pleased to support Cayman HospiceCare in its effort to provide care and comfort for the terminallyill. Their effort is vital in ensuring a high quality of lifefor the patients and in providing peace of mind to their families,"said Mr. Tim Adam, General Manager of Cable & Wireless.

Mr. David Bird, Chairman of Cayman Hospice Care said it was generousdonations such as the one from Cable & Wireless that allowedthe programme to continue. Cayman Hospice Care is currently attendingto the needs of ten patients and their families.

"The goal of Cayman Hospice Care is to provide specializedhome care for terminally ill patients regardless of age, nationalityor religion," he said.

"Hospice Care includes lending equipment, nurse care, counsellingfor the patients and for the families of the terminally ill. Weare currently looking at the possibility of adding a Day CareCentre for our cancer patients. A sum of CI$700,000 is neededannually to ensure this programme continues," he added.

Mr. Bird also stressed that community support has been significant,with individuals and companies making donations ranging from $25to $5,000 and more.

Mr. Adam said: "We will continue to support programmes suchas this one. It not only benefits the community as a whole, butit also touches the lives of individuals."
