Competition is healthy
Dear Sir:
I believe that Net2Phone did try to finda way to offer telecommunications services that were in breachof the contract the Cayman government had with Cable and Wireless.
However, I believe that the main problem is the lack of deregulationin the telecommunications market. Law suits which try to bypassthe existing telecommunications monopoly are not the right approach.
What is needed is for competing companies and the citizens ofthe Cayman Islands to challenge the existing monopoly. I findthe economy of scale argument that the Cayman Islands market istoo small for effective competition in the marketplace is invalid.
Competition for telecommunications would bring cheaper prices, better service, and wider range of products and services. Thecompanies themselves would figure out on their own how to bestserve the customer base of the Cayman Islands.
