Foster's Turkey Trot 5K Run/ Walk

Thanksgiving weekend isthe most heavily-travelled time of the year in the United States.

It's also the time when a large number of joggers and runnerstake part in a variety of events with a Turkey Day theme - somepersons to build up an appetite for a marathon encounter at thetable, and others, after having partaken of the holiday spread,to attempt to get rid of a few excess pounds.

There are, approximately, 112 Thanksgiving Day-related runs in33 states this year, and this does not include Puerto Rico, whereevents of various distances in several towns all have the sametitle - Maraton de Pavo.

Grand Cayman will also have its contribution to the featheredfestivities. The Foster's Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk is scheduledfor Sunday, November 19 at 7:00 a.m. The point-to-point coursebegins at Foster's West Bay store, and follows West Bay Road tofinish at Foster's in the Strand.

The usual across-the-board melange of participants is welcome- from baby chicks, who must be accompanied by a mother hen, allthe way to the wise, old birds who know better than to over-exertthemselves.

Age group winners will gain their own holiday turkey, while topperformers and lucky random winners will enjoy repasts at someof the Island's restaurants.

Other random prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be provided.The entry fee is CI$10, and early registration is welcome. Informationis available at 945-3970. The Turkey Trot is part of the TropicanaTour de Cayman Running Series organised by the Phoenix AthleticClub.
