Eleven employees of cargo handling agenciesattended a Cargo Awareness Workshop Saturday, 10 November, toimprove techniques in proper handling of cargo.
This is the first in a series of such workshopsand was hosted by Cayman Dispatch Services at the Customs Trainingfacility near the airport.
Facilitator/Instructor Kermit Chung, CaymanDispatch Services Trainer, said, "Recent happenings in theU.S.A. particularly the September 11 terrorist attack and laterthe anthrax problems, make it imperative that cargo handlers atall levels be trained in the proper handling of all types of cargo".
"Safety and security concerns are paramountand so we must educate and heighten the level of awareness inthe industry," he added.
The participants represented five cargo-handlingagencies: H.M. Customs Warehouse, C.I. Health Services Ltd, Sta-MarEnterprise Ltd, Miracle Brokers Ltd, and IMP Agency.
Erimando Ebanks, Owner, and Director ofCayman Dispatch Services explained, "We intend to continuewith these workshops, probably as regularly as once every quarter.There is so much information to share and there is so much peoplein the industry need to know and learn."
