The Portfolio of Internal and External Affairsis reminding Cayman Islands passport holders that before makingany travel bookings, a check should be made of their travel documentsto ensure that they are in order. This involves checking not onlypassports but also visas.
Persons travelling to the United Statesof America should ensure that their passports are valid for atleast six months beyond the date of intended departure from thatcountry.
The period required to issue a Cayman Islandspassport (new or renewal) is two working weeks, while a UnitedStates waiver requires three working days after being filed. Passportsmust be valid for US waivers to be issued.
Waivers cannot be issued to passport holderswhose Police record list criminal convictions.
Adult passport holders are reminded thatchildren can no longer be added to their passports. Each childmust posses his/her own passport. Children already included ontheir parents' passports will not be affected until replacementpassports are issued upon expiration of the current ones.
Once travel documents have been filed withthe passport office and a date and time arranged for collection,you must ensure that they are collected prior to the closure ofthe office at 4:30 PM on weekdays.
