That Government came to terms last monthwith the local contractor who was seeking compensation for thebreaking of an agreement to build a new Hospital in 1997 wherethe Fairbanks Women Prison is now located. It is understood thatthe contactor agreed to a settlement for a sum in the range of$600,000 and may now qualify to be on the list of contactors whocan be considered for Government projects.
That a few top positions in Government,including key secretarial positions may be shuffled now that thereis a new leadership of Government Business along with two newappointments to the Executive Council.
That the new Government has been in severalstrategy meetings over the past weekend and into Monday, in aneffort to find ways in which to get the economy boosted. It isalso suggested that two high powered committees set up previouslyto find answers to the country's economic woes have been maderedundant.
