David White
David White comes from a cricketing family.His grandfather and granduncle both played for the WI team. Likehis father who was his first coach, David plays for Byrite SportsClub.
It is a family cricketing history such asthis that led him to being named just over a week ago joint InternationalCricketer of the Year for the Cayman Islands Cricket Association.David has under his belt a number of individual prizes for outstandinglocal performances but this is the first time that he got recognitionfor achievement at the international level.
He earned a place on the Cayman IslandsNational team in 1979 when the squad toured Turks and Caicos Islandsand has been a part of the side since then.
"The level of discipline needed, thesun and the length of games discourage more willing youth involvement.I am encouraged by the efforts of the new technical team in goingto the schools to win youths to the game," David said.
He sees a role for more sponsors in furtherdevelopment of cricket in the Cayman Islands.
