Water Authority Assists the Pines

Water Authority Chairman, Mr. Brainard Watler, Director of the Water Authority Dr. Gelia Frederick van Genderen
The Water Authority Cayman Board Chairman, Mr. Brainard Watler, on Tuesday, 26th November, presented 12 gift certificates of CI$500.00 each to put towards the monthly costs of piped water for the Pines Retirement Home.
In August of this year, Mr. Thomas Hill, Operations Manager Water Supply, and Mr. Hendrik-Jan van Genderen, Water Resources Engineer of the Authority, conducted an assessment of the Pine's water supply. Their findings were then presented to the Water Authority Board, who resolved to provide assistance in two key areas: 1) water supply costs and, 2) repair key aspects of the current plumbing layout to simplify the management of water usage.
Mr. Watler, commenting on the donation, emphasised: "The Water Authority is proud to continue its support of this organisation and we wish them every success in achieving their goals."
The Director, Dr. Gelia Frederick van Genderen, said that the Water Authority recognises the importance of the community's support of facilities such as the Pines. "As a favorite charity of the Board and Staff of the Authority, the Pines has been the focus of several charitable efforts such as Project Angel Tree, Paint-Your-Heart-Out-Cayman, and previous water voucher donations.
Additionally, the Water Authority Wastewater Department provides service and support for the two wastewater pumping stations that service the Pines. We are committed to assisting the residents of the Pines Retirement Home and would encourage others to donate their resources and time to this organisation " she said.
Pines Manager, Ms. Sue Nicholson expressed her appreciation to the Board, Management and Staff of the Authority. She stated, "The residents and management of the Pines are extremely grateful for the assistance of the Water Authority who have supported consistently in the past and in particular, for this donation, which will certainly help to bridge our financial shortfall of $15,000 each month at the home".
The Water Authority is the statutory authority responsible for the management of water and wastewater in the Cayman Islands.
