Bodden Town Quincentennial District Committee Celebrates
The Bodden Town Quincentennial District Committee would like to invite residents and visitors to a celebration of Bodden Town "The Birthplace of Democracy and Justice" on Sunday, 1 December, 2002.
The event, which will take place at Pedro St. James, will begin at 3:00pm with the arrival of the parade, consisting of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Band, the Girls Brigade and the Boy Scouts.
The occasion will honour retired elected statesmen and remember those who have departed. The Bodden Town District Committee will also celebrate the beginning of Representative Government in the Cayman Islands on December 5, 1931 with the unveiling of a plaque carrying the names of the first Legislative Assembly of Vestry and Justices which convened on December 31, 1831.
In attendance will be Acting Governor, the Hon. James Ryan, the Hon. Chief Justice, Mr. Anthony Smellie, Q.C. the Hon. Speaker of the House, Julianna O'Connor-Connolly, Leader of Government Business, the Hon. McKeeva Bush, Members of Executive Council and Legislature and other signatories. Music will be provided by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Band, George Hicks High School Swing Band and the Savannah United Church Youth Band.
