Super Cup Returns Sponsoredby Western Union
On Wednesday September 27, 2000 three teamswill come together to compete for the Western Union Super Cup.An annual game sponsored by Western Union, this year marks thesecond year since the inception of the games.
Expected to compete in the second annual Western Union Super Cupare Turks and Caicos Islands National Football Team, Harbour ViewClub from Jamaica and our own Cayman Islands National Footballteam. Our national team, last year's champion, have promised tocome out fighting to defend their title with the hope of strongsupport from the home crowd.
The stakes are also high as the winner not only takes home thetrophy for a year but also comes away with US$10,000 in cash prizes.But no one will be left out of the celebrations as the secondplace winner will go home with US$5,000 and the third place winnerUS$2,500.
The games will run from September 27th to October 1st, 2000 atthe Truman Bodden Sports Complex. Each game is scheduled so thatthere has to be a winner; no draws will be accepted.
The Cayman Islands National Football Team (CIFA) will meet theTurks and Caicos Islands National Football team (TCI) at 7 p.m.on the 27th, TCI will meet Harbour View at the same time on the29th, and on October 1st CIFA will meet Harbour View for the lastmatch. There after, a points system will be used to determinethe winner of the games.
Both regular and VIP tickets will be available at Western Union'soffices and the CIFA office on Eastern Avenue.
