Unifying the Growth of LocalSoccer

This past week - on Tuesday, the 3rd ofOctober, Jeff Webb celebrated 10 years as the President of theCayman Islands Football Association (CIFA), and has been on itsExecutive Committe for the past 16. Recognising his contributionto the sport which is enthusiastically revered by millions offans and players worldwide, he was appointed to be a Committeemember of the the world body (FIFA) five years ago. He is onlythe second person in the Caribbean to have this honour.

No stranger to playing the sport himself, Jeff got his early startin the game while attending High School and College in the UnitedStates.

"I am committed to see our youth get the financial and practicalsupport they need to prepare them for regional wins," hetold Cayman Net News recently, "because we have proven ourselvesover and over again. With 2400 players, coaches and others directlyinvolved with football in Cayman, we deserve to be funded farmore than the $50,000 we are now given as a grant."

Jeff Webb is determined to use football to win over the attentionof some of Cayman's youth. In support of this, Cayman Net Newswill be publishing a feature on him, his colleagues and a lookat how sports in general can contribute to the orderly growthof the country's yougsters in a subsequent issue.
