Senior Staff Movements at Deloitte& Touche

The Partners of Deloitte & Touche haveannounced three senior staff developments within the firm, whichtook effect recently. Mr. Taron Jackman joined the Practice asSenior Manager - Operations and Administration; Mr. Stuart Sybersmawas promoted to Principal; and Mrs. Lynda Redfern was promotedto Senior Manager.
Mr. Jackman joined Deloitte & Touche after completing nineyears service as Chief Operating Officer at Barclays Private Bank& Trust (Cayman) Limited. In his new capacity at the Firmhe is responsible for aspects of the Information Technology department,Operations, Client Accounting, and developing innovative financialproducts for delivery to the business community.
Mr. Jackman is the son of Dr. Joseph and Mrs. Marva Jackman, whohave been long term residents of the Cayman Islands. He holdsa Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Purdue University,and obtained his Certified Public Accountant designation in 1991.
Commenting on his appointment, Managing Partner, Mr. Ian Wightsaid, "we are delighted to be able to attract another Caymanianprofessional of Taron's caliber, especially at a time when thegrowth of Deloitte & Touche's practice in Cayman dictatesa greater emphasis in operational and technological effectiveness"
Mr. Sybersma has been with the Deloitte family since 1986 andjoined the local practice on a full time basis in January 1999.Prior to that Mr. Sybersma had been seconded to the Cayman practicein January 1994 to assist with the liquidation of Bank of Creditand Commerce International (BCCI).
He returned to Toronto in 1996 where he obtained his CharteredInsolvency Practitioner designation and qualified as a CanadianTrustee in Bankruptcy. Mr. Sybersma also holds an Honours Bachelorof Business Administration degree from Wilfred Laurier Universityand obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1989.
In his role as Principal, Mr. Sybersma is responsible for theLiquidation, Insolvency and Financial Services departments. Mr.Michael Pilling, a partner in the firm with joint responsibilityfor Liquidations said of Mr. Sybersma's promotion, "Stu'srole in insolvency and financial services is already far reaching.His promotion recognizes the significance of his contributionand the confidence of the partners in his ability to oversee andgrow this important area of our business."
Mrs. Lynda Redfern has been with the Deloitte family since September1991, initially in Canada. She joined the Cayman practice in October1995. She is a graduate of the Simon Fraser University in BritishColumbia, Canada, and obtained the Chartered Accountant designationin May 1994. In her capacity as Senior Manager in the Assuranceand Advisory (Audit) Services Department, she jointly overseesthe work of a team of Managers and Senior Auditors/Accountants.
Commenting on her promotion, Mr. Glen Wigney, Partner with jointresponsibility for Assurance and Advisory Services said, "Lynda'smanagerial abilities complement those of the rest of our auditmanagement team. Her promotion recognizes her potential to playan increased role within the department and the firm, particularlyin the areas of client management and operations."
