Swimmer LandonVon Kanel Dies in Accident
Landon Von Kanel, 18,a member of a Cayman Islands Gold medal Winning National SwimTeam, has died from injuries suffered in an automobile accidenton the evening of Friday, 12 October.
Landon's accident occurred near Baton Rogue, Louisiana, wherehe was a freshman at the Louisiana State University studying businessmanagement.
While a resident of Grand Cayman, Landon was a member of StingrayClub and enjoyed swimming and participating in various competitions,including the British Championship at the Crystal Palace in London,England and Puerto Rico competitions.
Landon, son of Randy and Cindy Farris Von Kanel, was born in Mobile,Ala. and spent his elementary years in Mississippi residing inBig Point (Pascagoula), Carthage, and Hattiesburg where his fatherserved as pastor.
Gravesite services are scheduled for Tuesday, 16 October, at firstBaptist Church of Jackson.
