Governor AddressesTourism Operators Next Week

His Excellency the Governor,Mr. Peter Smith will address members of the Cayman Islands TourismAssociation Wednesday, 24 October, on general tourism issues andmore specifically, the planned activities for the 2003 quincentennialcelebration program of the discovery of the Cayman Islands.

The Governor chairs the quincentennial celebration committee.

According to Rod McDowall, President of the Cayman Islands TourismAssociation and member of the 2003 quincentennial celebrationcommittee, the 500-year anniversary program has great marketingand tourism potential for the islands.

Mr McDowall said, "the celebration program is a unique opportunityto put the spotlight on the Cayman Islands. There are many goodideas on the table and with some forward thinking and planningwe will be able to maximize the opportunities this occasion providesfor the benefit of all people in the Cayman Islands."

"We are extremely pleased that His Excellency the Governoris personally involved in the planning of the celebration programas this demonstrates the importance of this event has to the islands"Mr McDowall said.

Mrs. Angela Martins, Programme Director for the Cayman IslandsQuincentennial Celebrations will also be present at the meeting.
All members of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association are invitedto attend the general meeting at the Marriott Beach Resort.
