QuestioningImmigration Charges on Tourists

Dear Sir,

A Texan here.

I have a thought that could bring additional revenue to the island, and make your regular tourist much happier. Every year peoplecome to the Cayman Islands for vacation but can only get a ticketfor a thirty day stay, unless they pay a large sum for an openend return ticket.

With only a thirty-day ticket you must get an OK from immigrationat a cost of $25.00 to extend your visit and then extend yourticket for an additional $100.00 from CAL. This is not good business.

People plan their vacation. The key word is plan. It seems tome, if a person wanted to spend thirty-one days, six weeks ortwo months he should be allowed the same pricing considerationbooking his airfare. Cayman's Airways and or the government hasnothing to gain with this policy.

Why limit people to just a thirty day stay. Everyone knows howimportant the tourist trade has become. These people spend moneyat the local grocery stores, buy bottled water and a host of otheritems that really make the economy healthy.

They are not just someone who gets off a cruise ship for a fewhours.

I read the Cayman Net News daily on the Web. Let me know yourthoughts.

Thanking you in advance.
