Cut-a-Thonfor Breast Cancer this Sunday
This Sunday, October 20th, Eclipze HairDesign & Day Spa will be hosting their annual "Cut-A-Thonfor Breast Cancer". This is the third year that the eventwill be taking place, and Eclipze's Artistic Director, Darla Dilbert-Wood,couldn't be happier. "It's truly a very worthy cause,"she says.
Eclipze had been approached on many occasionsby different organizations seeking donations. Though Ms. Dilbert-Woodrecognizes that there are many great causes to support, she feltthe need to "really get involved with something that wasneeded (in the community)."
Breast cancer, she decided, needed suchsupport, not only because it mainly affects women, but also becauseit had hit home. "I had an aunt who died from breast cancernearly ten years ago," she says, "(the cancer) wasn'tdiagnosed."
Now in its third year, the Cut-a Thon hasbeen able to raise a good sum for the Lions Club of Tropical GardensBreast Cancer Awareness Fund. And though Eclipze is the host,Ms. Dilbert-Wood readily acknowledges the incredible support fromparticipating salons and spas, without which this would not bepossible.
"Every year we invite other salonsto join us, and we are very grateful for participation. Afterall, without their help we wouldn't be able to raise this much(money) in such a short period of time," she explains.
This year, nearly 20 volunteers from Artista,BodyWorks, Dee's, Changes, Headz Up, Marriott Spa, Spa Novell,Today's Image and Eclipze will be donating one to two hours oftheir time to the event.
Due to time constraints, those interestedin getting their hair cut should come with clean hair, as theywill not be able to get a shampoo that day.
