Focus Teen Talent Competitions

Focus will be hosting its 4th annual teentalent competitions on October 19th at the Harquail Theatre at7:30P.M. Tickets are $10.00 adult and $5.00 children ages 3 ­11. Tickets can be purchased from any Focus member.

First Baptist Christian School holds Dinner and Open House

On Tuesday, October 22, First Baptist ChristianSchool will be holding its annual Fall Dinner and Open House.
The event will begin at 6 pm with the dinner in the Family LifeCentre (the gym), and the classrooms, including Wee Care, willopen at 7 pm.
"We feel that one of the best ways to foster a positive schooland home partnership is by breaking bread together," saysRamona Melody, Interim Principal for FBCS. "We know thatgood first impressions make a difference, and our open house isdesigned to establish lines of communication between parents andteachers. A primary goal of our open house is to make our parentsfeel welcome."
The food for the dinner will be catered by Ragazzi Restaurant,which promises a tasty treat. Tickets are CI$8.00 for adults andCI$5.00 for children, and can be purchased at the school office,before and after school in the school entrances, and at the doorthe night of the dinner. All the funds raised this year will gotowards the school computer lab.
"This is an opportunity to create a continued base of communicationthroughout the school year, so we are pleased at the efforts ofour PTF makes to start us out right with the fabulous Fall Dinner,"adds Ms. Melody.

Elmslie Memorial United Church
Hallelujah! An evening of inspirational music and fellowship celebratingthe Rally of the Twelve Disciples.

On Saturday, 26th October at 6:30pm, theMary Miller Hall, Red Bay will be hosting Hallelujah! an eveningof inspirational music and fellowship on behalf of Elmslie MemorialUnited Church. The event is the culmination of over three monthswork by 12 volunteer "disciples" (each taking a nameincluding Judas) who formed teams from the Elmslie Memorial UnitedChurch congregation and have been working since June on a programmeof activity to promote unity in the church through fellowship.

On the 26th, the 12 disciples rally, willgive witness to their activity and celebrate with friends andguests with a programme of music that will be both inspirationaland uplifting. The concert involves performers from all over Caymanincluding Elmslie United Church Choir, Cayman Male Voice Choir,Cayman National Choir, Cayman National Orchestra and other guestssuch as Grace Hurst & Beth Roulstone, who will be performinga duet entitled "People Need the Lord", the tenor PaulJoseph and the Bass Barltone Rudy Myles who will be singing piecesfrom the Messiah by George Friedrich Handel. Pianist StephanieWilliams and Mark Minott will also be accompany-ing many piecesduring the performance.

The originator of this event for ElmslieMemorial United Church is Reverend Joe Crawford who was appointedto the George Town Charge of the United Church (including RobertYoung Memorial Young Memorial and George Hicks Memorial UnitedChurches) in January this year. During his first year the Reverendhas identified the issues of unity and fellowship as crucial tothe future prosperity of Elmslie Memorial United Church and setthe congregation a challenge to promote and improve these aspects.

Hallelujah! Will be and evening not to bemissed. The programme includes uplifting pieces such as 'God bein my head' arranged by John Rutter, 'Dry your tears, Afrika'by John Williams, 'Spiritual Medley' arranged by Oyvind Risa,the 'Awakening Chorus' by Charlotte Homer & Chas. Gabrieland 'Comfort ye my people', 'Ev'ry valley shall be exalted' and'the trumpet shall sound' by Handel. Cayman National Orchestrawill be performing Fantasy ­ "Sleeper's Wake" byJohann Sebastian Bach and the 3rd Movement from the Symphony No.2by Johannes Brahms amongst other pieces.
