Monetary Authority Chief toAddress Chamber Luncheon

The position of Managing Director of theCayman Islands Monetary Authority was assumed in June 2000, byMr. John Bourbon.

Prior to his move to Grand Cayman, Mr. Bourbon was Head of Supervisionof the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission, a role whichcarried responsibility for the regulation of all the Islands'banking activities, collective investment schemes and investmentbusiness.

It is expected that the role of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authorityis to maintain a well regulated, sound and competitive financialservices sector in which the public can have confidence, and topreserve the value and integrity of the Cayman Islands currency.

Next Wednesday, August 30, Mr. Bourbon will be discussing wherethe Monetary Authority is at the moment and what it will taketo carry the Authority forward. He will be the guest speaker atthe next Chamber of Commerce Luncheon to be held at the WharfRestaurant, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tickets for the eventmay be purchased from the Chamber for $25 pre-paid or $30 at thedoor.
