One of the major achievements this pastyear has been the production and publication of the 'Code of BestPractice' which outlines the manner in which member banks andtrust companies are required to conduct their business. The Codeísmain objective is to provide, in particular, guidance relatingto anti-money laundering practice and other criminal activities.

Now in its 21st year, CIBA seeks to preserveand further develop the good reputation of the Cayman Islandsas an international financial centre and to represent the interestsof its members. There has been substantial media coverage bothlocally and internationally as a result of the external initiativesof OECD, FATF and other groups and it is evident that an exertedeffort is required to better inform the public both in Caymanand overseas.

Together with other associations withinthe financial services sector and in conjunction with government,CIBA will therefore focus its attention on improving the communicationof the image of the Cayman Islands as a quality jurisdiction forinvestors. Beyond this, the Association continues to contributesignificantly to the local community by providing job opportunities, training and educating its employees as well as offering scholarshipsboth overseas and at the Community College.
