Cable & Wireless announcesweekend reduction in rates - to selected US cities for residentialtraffic
In an obvious response to the public's concernover rates charged for international telephone communicationsservices for the Cayman Islands, the 25-year franchise holder,of this necessary utility, Cable and Wireless (C&W), issueda press release today announcing a cut in their rates - however,just for weekend use.
Subscribers to C&W in the Cayman Islands can now call selectedUnited States numbers for as little as CI$0.48 (US$0.60) per minuteon Saturdays and Sundays. This means that there will thereforebe no break for those folk who conduct business during the week.
The release states: "The introduction of SmartChoice, anexciting programme launched in July, provides customers with a20% TalkAway discount on up to 6 international numbers, dependingon the plan they choose. This doubles the discount on regularTalkAway numbers."
When announcing a reduction of international direct dialled ratesan average of 27% last October, Cable & Wireless promisedfurther savings. Cable & Wireless' latest offer will benefitresidential customers in the Caribbean, giving them the opportunityto save on international calls.
General Manager of Cable & Wireless Cayman Islands, Mr. TimothyAdam said. "We've had a tremendous response to our initialoffering of TalkAway as well as the introduction of SmartChoice.We would like all residential international callers to benefitfrom this discount, so that is why we are reminding everyone ofthe offer and savings."
Since the initial international rate reduction, Cable & Wirelesshas offered special pricing discounts for the Christmas holidaysand the month of May. This produced a saving of as much as 43%on the normal rate.
"These savings are just the beginning" continued Mr.Adam. "SmartChoice customers will have access to even morediscounts and offers over the coming months."
