Sister Islands Fete Miss CaymanContestants

The Miss Cayman Islands contestants touredthe Sister Islands last weekend, continuing the pageant's practiceof educating and familiarising the contestants with Cayman Bracand Little Cayman.

On the agenda for the trip to Cayman Brac were a visit to FaithHospital and the Kirkconnell Community Care Centre, and toursof attractions such as Bat Cave and the Bluff. They were guestsof the Brac Caribbean Beach Resort and enjoyed the hospitalityof the Captain's Table Restaurant.

On Little Cayman, the ladies were guests of honour at the weekendBBQ at McCoy's Lodge. They also toured the island, made a tripto Owen Island, and did a beach photo shoot.

Accompanying the ladies were Committee Chairperson Miss HeatherBodden, members of the 2000 committee, and representatives ofthe Ministry for Tourism, Transport and Works.

Miss Bodden said the trip was again made possible by the supportof the pageant's major sponsors, the Department of Tourism andCayman Airways, with the assistance of Island Air and the captainand crew of Reef Divers, who transported the contestants betweenthe Sister Islands. On Little Cayman, the group was accommodatedat Conch Point Condos, Little Cayman Beach Resort and Paradisevillas.
The eight young ladies competing in this year's event are: MissIsland Paving, Nancy Kimball; Miss Island Air, Sascha-Lynne Pierson;Miss Mercedes Benz, Maxine Bodden; Miss Quarry Products, ElizabethHenning; Miss Hertz, Oneisha Richards; Miss Hurlstone Construction,Jacqueline Bush; Miss Colombian Emeralds, Jonina Swanson; andMiss Olson Construction, Rochelle Hanson.

This year's Miss Cayman Islands pageant will take place on Saturday,30 September at the Lion's Centre.
