Chamber of Commerce BusinessExpo 2000 a Success

Entertainment 'Expo' style!

The annual Chamber of Commerce BusinessExpo, held last week at the Lion's Centre, has been heralded asa major success by the Chamber and the local business community.An estimated 6000-10000 people attended the three day event, whichfeatured the participation of nearly 90 local businesses.

"I am extremely satisfied with the Expo," said Chamberof Commerce CEO Mr. Will Pineau. "The level of the displayswas excellent, and many of the businesses kept with this year'stheme of Business and Technology, which was great." Mr. Pineaualso explained that several local businesses launched Internetservices and projects at the Expo, and a few residents even chosethe Expo as the date to launch their new businesses.

The beauty of the Expo, Mr. Pineau continued, is that the forumprovides the opportunity for large and small businesses to displaythemselves to the public side by side. "At no other timeof the year are the large and small businesses able to competeon equal footing," he said. "That's really why we havethe Expo, to provide this equal footing for local businesses."

Aside from the businesses, local residents and visitors also benefitedfrom this year's Expo. During the weekend, thousands of familiesand people of all ages walked through the Lion's Centre enjoyingthe many displays, the goods for sale, the festive community atmosphere,and especially the ice cream, cotton candy, and other delectableitems.

Of course, the Expo represents much more than a fun family outing.The Expo demonstrates that shoppers need not venture to Miamior elsewhere in search of good deals. "To me," explainedMr. Pineau, "the Expo proves that there are many goods andservices available on the Island at affordable prices."

The Chamber of Commerce wishes to extend thanks to the communityfor their support of the Chamber and the Business Expo, and tothe many exhibitors who spent countless hours making the Expothe success that it was.
