New Caribbean Region AssociationFormed For Compliance Professionals
Mr. KennethL. Bryant
Kenneth L. Bryant was appointed as Chairmanof the newly formed Eastern Seaboard of the Americas (Caribbean)Region, at a recent Council Meeting of The Compliance Institute.
Mr. Bryant currently serves as a Directorof KYC Outsourced Services, a Division of Internet Financial Services,Ltd., in the Cayman Islands. "I think this shows the worldthat offshore financial centres in the Caribbean are not onlyfully compliant with international standards but that we are makinggreat strides to be on the leading edge of professional developmentas well. The stature of The Compliance Institute is world renownand I am delighted to have the Council's full confidence and support,"said Bryant.
According to Martin Hankey, President, "ourexisting members, working for their British organisations andmany other prospective members are very concerned, not only aboutthe far reaching tentacles of the Financial Services Authority,but also those regulations that apply from the USA and their ownlocal Governments."
Mr. Bryant commented, "Many professionalsI have spoken with throughout the region, have expressed a needfor better networking, regulatory support, and more in-depth trainingthan is currently being offered, especially from a multi-jurisdictionalpoint of view. It is my intention as Chairman, to deliver valuableresources in these rather very critical areas."
One of the first goals of the new regionis to establish a baseline for the required regulatory complianceknowledge, skills and abilities at the individual professionallevel. In conjunction with the Professional Education Board, theInstitute's own "Foundation Course in Compliance and RiskManagement" is to be licensed, locally adapted and offeredin the new region as a means of professional certification.
