DiabetesAssoc. Has New Meeting Place

Menu planning for diabetics, discussionsabout World Diabetes Day and of course, the opportunity to socialiseare all planned for the next meeting of the Cayman Islands DiabetesAssociation (CIDA), which now has a new venue.

The CIDA meetings will be held in the CaymanIslands Seafarers' Association building, located behind the GeorgeTown library and near the bus station, says CIDA Adviser SimoneSheehan.

"Our numbers are increasing, and itbecame necessary to move the meeting for space reasons,"she explains. Mrs. Sheehan also notes that the new location'sproximity to the bus station is more convenient for persons travellingfrom outside George Town to attend the meetings.

Set for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2nd,the meeting is open to everyone who is interested in learningmore about diabetes; while the session is free, $5 contributionsare welcome to offset operational costs.

Health Services Authority nutritionist BethanySmith, who will assist with menu planning for diabetics, willpresent October's education focus.

Healthy, easy-to-prepare recipes will alsobe distributed in preparation for the November CIDA meeting, whichwill commemorate World Diabetes Day (WDD). A highlight of thatmeeting will be a "taste and tell" session.

Held the first Wednesday of every month,CIDA meetings are geared toward sharing practical, medically provenways of managing diabetes that are easy to incorporate into dailyroutines.
