Diabetes Association hasexciting meeting planned
Menu planning for diabetics, discussionsabout World Diabetes Day and of course, the opportunity to socialiseare all planned for the next meeting of the Cayman Islands DiabetesAssociation (CIDA), which now has a new venue.
The CIDA meetings will be held in the CaymanIslands Seafarers' Association building, located behind the GeorgeTown library and near the bus station, says CIDA Adviser SimoneSheehan. "Our numbers are increasing, and it became necessaryto move the meeting for space reasons," she explains. Mrs.Sheehan also notes that the new location's proximity to the busstation is more convenient for persons travelling from outsideGeorge Town to attend the meetings.
Set for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, 2 October,the meeting is open to everyone who is interested in learningmore about diabetes; while the session is free, $5 contributionsare welcome to offset operational costs.
Health Services Authority nutritionist BethanySmith, who will assist with menu planning for diabetics, willpresent October's education focus. Healthy, easy-to-prepare recipeswill also be distributed in preparation for the November CIDAmeeting, which will commemorate World Diabetes Day (WDD). A highlightof that meeting will be a "taste and tell" session.
Held the first Wednesday of every month,CIDA meetings are geared toward sharing practical, medically provenways of managing diabetes that are easy to incorporate into dailyroutines.
