Ground Testing for New GovernmentBuildings

Ground testing for the new government officeaccommodations began 16 September.

Minister for Planning, Communication, Worksand Information Technology, Hon. Linford Pierson, OBE, JP, andministry officials visited the site to view the test bores, whichare being dug by Apec Consulting Engineers Ltd.

The underground survey will take only afew days and determine if there are any soft spots or faults inthe land that builders will have to take into consideration.

Mr. Pierson is pleased with the progresson the project thus far. "The much-needed office accommodationswere approved in August and already things are underway. Followingthe completion of the test bores we can be confident about wherethe foundation for the building will go," comments Mr. Pierson.

The site of the new buildings is locatedon government-owned land, adjacent to the current Government AdministrationBuilding.
