An Important Part of OurHistory
Dear Sir,
Please allow me to share with you my thoughtson a book I have recently read entitled 'The '32 Storm'.
This book, which is a "compilationof eye-witness accounts and official reports of the worst naturaldisaster in the history of the Cayman Islands", covers thedevastation that the Hurricane of 1932 caused seventy years agothis coming November.
I recommend this book to all, speciallyour schoolchildren, in the hope that we, as a society, can recapturethe grit and determination of our past. It is quite somethingto read about how those who survived the storm overcame such deadlyodds to make both their mark and contribution to the Cayman Islandstoday.
The book was compiled and edited by Ms.Heather R. McLaughlin from the Cayman Islands National Archives. The entire staff of the National Archives deserves much praisefor their fine work.
Those interested can attain copies fromall leading bookstores throughout the islands, or from the NationalArchives. A number of copies are available from Puritan Cleaners(337 Eastern Avenue, GT) free of cost.
