Director of Tourism LaniaRittenhouse completes first visit to Canada

Director of Tourism for the Cayman Islands,Lania Rittenhouse recently returned to Grand Cayman after completingher first visit in the Canadian market last week. Daniel Quinn,CIDOT Marketing Services Representative, accompanied Mrs. Rittenhouseon the three-day trip to Toronto.

Activities included a visit to the CIDOTCanada office and a joint meeting with its advertising and publicrelations agencies, RBA Advertising Ltd. and Coastal International.Mrs. Rittenhouse conducted one-on-one media interviews with nationaltravel trade publications Canadian Travel Press, Travel Courier,Travelweek and with www.openjaw.com, a web-based travel agente-zine. Her interview will be available in audio format on thiswebsite over the next few weeks.
Meetings were also held with Air Canadaand Air Canada Vacations, and during a travel trade and medialuncheon hosted by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, AirCanada announced the addition of a third weekly flight to GrandCayman scheduled to begin operation in December 2002. Thirty travelindustry leaders and 18 media representatives attended the luncheon.During her address, Mrs. Rittenhouse thanked Air Canada and AirCanada Vacations for their ongoing commitment and support to thedestination. She also provided a new product overview and spokeabout the variety of vacation experiences offered on all threeislands.
The visit also included a stop at BayviewVillage shopping centre to view the spectacular, custom-made CaymanIslands display situated in the mall's Centre Court area. Thedisplay is reflective of a traditional Caymanian house with asand yard complete with conch shells, a colourful façadewith a white picket fence and a galvanized metal roof, and isthe focal point of a multi-level, six-week retail promotion currentlytaking place.
