Ministers' Association commendsCayman Net News' Editorial

Dear Sir,

The CMA hereby commends Cayman Net Newsfor their Editorial of September 23rd 2002. We appreciate therecognition and acknowledgement of the goodness and grace of Godtowards these beloved islands by your publication.

For many years we have been most fortunateto have escaped the pain and suffering that others have experiencedfrom natural disasters.

We recall the Gospel accounts of the Christin the boat at whose word the winds and the sea were controlled. No doubt it is wrong to profess to go beyond general knowledgein making claims for why such things happen, but those who hadpaused in their hurried preparations to make prayer to God andput their trust in him and make intercessions for His people hereshould feel vindicated.

But let us also be careful not to becomeself righteous and boastful over these things, as if we are betterthan any other people or nation.

We should be humbled to be relieved fromthe suffering others have felt, we should be compassionate towardstheir pain and needs and generously respond with assistance wherepractical and possible.

God's goodness and grace to any individualor people is not for the purpose of making them arrogant. It isto cause us to acknowlege our own sin. The goodness of God, saysthescripture, "leads us to repentance."

Let us not take God's grace for grantedbut in humility continue to acknowledge His mercy to us and ourdependence upon Him, recognizing that we could very easily findourselves dealing with such horrific disasters and in need ofthe assistance of others.
