Ritz Group’s hotel purchase opposed
The Strata Plan of the Treasure Island Condominiums is
strongly opposing the proposed purchase of Treasure Island Resort by the
developer of the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman, complaining that the move will
turn the hotel into a “subsidised housing project.” According to the
Strata Plan, it had been advised that the Ritz-Carlton Group was purchasing
the property to be used initially for housing construction workers on the
Ritz-Carlton project, and afterwards to accommodate the staff and families of
the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman hotel...

Politicians’ scuffle rumour is scuttled

A rumour of a supposed fight that involved Cabinet Minister
Dr the Hon Frank McField and Leader of the Opposition Hon Kurt Tibbetts was
dispelled by both men and eyewitnesses to the event on Tuesday. The
incident allegedly took place last Friday in the Central Plaza area of George
Town, and supposedly resulted in Mr McField being physically attacked and police
arriving at the scene...

PSPB hosts pensioner appreciation in the Brac
The
Public Service Pensions Board (PSPB) held a reception in appreciation of its
Cayman Brac pensioners on Friday, 4 June, at the District Administration
Building in Cayman Brac. There were more than 65 of the pensioners in
attendance and their anticipation was noticeable as many of them arrived much
