number of students being home-schooled in the Cayman Islands is growing every
year. By current estimates, the number of home-schooled children in
Cayman is up to 40, the highest since parents first began home-schooling here

Local craftsman carves out history
During
last week’s re-opening of the Legislative Assembly (LA), the work of craftsmen
Horace Ingram was literally front and centre in the form of the new mahogany
Speaker’s chair that he carved on the request of the Leader of Government
Business Hon McKeeva Bush. Mr Ingram, who has been coming to the Cayman

CUC Employee Fatally Injured
The
Manager of Caribbean Utilities Company’s (CUC) Line Department, Gerald McRobb,
died early Monday morning from injuries sustained after falling from an electric
pole. A Canadian national from British Columbia, Mr McRobb died at 5 am
following an accident that occurred shortly after 1 am when he fell from a CUC
pole he was climbing near the company’s West Bay Substation...

New Chief Immigration Officer Starting Next Week
The
Cayman Islands Immigration Department will welcome back a familiar face when
Franz Manderson takes the post of Chief Immigration Officer (CIO) on 12 July.

Person of the Day - Wildel
Powell
Having
lived in Grand Cayman for 18 years, Wildel Powell enjoys going home to
Clarendon, Jamaica, but is very content with his adopted home. Currently
working as a fabricator in the air conditioning industry, in his spare time he
seeks out the cooler parts of the island by taking a trip from his George Town
