Tourism passes pre-9/11 figures
For
the first time since the 9/11 terrorist attack on the United States, Cayman
Islands tourist arrival figures surpassed those for a corresponding month in
the year prior to the attack. During July, 33.118 visitors arrived by
air, surpassing the 32,255 that came here in July 2001. This year’s figure
represented a 25-percent increase over the same month in 2003...

US meat to return to supermarkets
Bone-in cuts of beef, from the United States will again be available in local
supermarkets, following the Cayman Islands Government’s issuing of revised
conditions for the importation of ruminant meat from the US. Importation
bone-in meats of ruminant origin was halted in December 2003, following a
reported case of ‘mad cow’s disease’ or bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE)
in that country...

explained the reasons he resigned abruptly on 31 July as Permanent Secretary

Person of the Day - Rebecca Gavin
As
a child growing up in Lafayette, Louisiana in the southern United States,
Rebecca Gavin learned to love nature through her love of gardens. Now, she
