Mac seeks UK aid
The
Leader of Government Business, Hon McKeeva Bush, on his way to the United
Kingdom to present the case for aid for the Cayman Islands as a British
Overseas Territory, confirmed the pressing need of housing in Grand Cayman as
his top priority. “Subject to further consultation, “Mr Bush said, “We
seek to permit short-term housing schemes into Grand Cayman for a period of up
to 18 months.”...

Property owners can now return
The Immigration Department has announced that non-nationals owning property in
the Cayman Islands are now permitted to return as well as children named as
dependants on work permits and government contracts. The department has also
formalised earlier post-Ivan work permit arrangements...

No Pirates Week celebration this year
Before
leaving for the UK Mr Bush told Cayman Net News that Pirates Week would have
to be cancelled for this year. This will be the first time in twenty-seven
years that the Island’s most famous festival has not been celebrated and is
likely to come as a severe blow to many residents. Unfortunately however it
